He was predeceased by: his parents, Samuel Townsend and Dorothy Fisher; and his brothers, Dwight Townsend and Samuel "Butch" Townsend. He is survived by: his wife Susan; his son Samuel "Butch" Townsend (Lisa); his grandchildren, Jack and Samantha; his child Konni Bringman (Neil O'Callaghan); his grandchildren, Bridget, Michael and Kathleen; his daughter Cindy Colley (Mark); his grandsons, Jake and Christopher; and his sister Jean Corrales.

Visitation will be held on Friday, September 25th 2026 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Fellows, Helfenbein & Newnam Funeral Home (200 S Harrison St, Easton, MD 21601). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 26th 2026 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
