Wayne Dale Harness Obituary

Mr. Wayne Dale Harness, age 84, of Palmetto, Florida, entered this life on January 17, 1937 in Lakeville, Indiana. He was the loving son of the late William Harness and Edna Harness West. He entered the United States Army on September 21, 1960 and served in the 21st Supply and Service Battalion as a mechanic. He earned an Expert Badge M-14 rifle and the National Defense Service Medal. He was honorably discharged as a Specialist E-5 on November 4, 1966 at Fort Campbell, Kentucky. His first marriage blessed him with a son and a daughter. On August 1, 1981, he was united in marriage to Margaret Hoagland in Chicago, Illinois. He was a cabinet maker and retired from that profession. He was a member of the Grace Brothern Church and enjoyed fishing and woodworking. Wayne died on Saturday, December 4, 2021, at 5:00 p.m. at the Lakewood Ranch Hospice House in Bradenton, Florida.

A LOVING FAMILY
Wayne will be missed by his loving wife of 40 years, Margaret Hoagland Harness of Palmetto, Florida; his sons, Wayne Dale Harness and David Ward; his daughter, Monica L. Harness; his brother, Roger Harness; his step mother, Millicent 'Milli' Harness; his half brothers, Larry West, Ronnie West, Bill Harness, & Doug Harness; his half sisters, Joyce Flud, Janet Hauser, Valerie Harness, and Lori Dennison; several nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Nora & J.T. Lightfoot and Leanna Schultz and William Harness, his father, William James Harness, died February 17, 2003, and his mother, Edna West, died September 27, 2005, his step father, Herman West, died January 11, 2008, his sister, Katherine 'Kate' Bedgood, died January 2000.

FUNERAL CEREMONY
Private memorial services will be conducted for his family on Friday, January 21, 2022 at 1:00 p.m., at the Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery Chapel, 1415 North Gate Road in Madison, Indiana.

MILITARY HONORS
A final salute with military honors will be conducted by the Major Samuel Woodfill Post No. 9 of the American Legion.
