He was predeceased by: his parents, Oscar Dykes and Francis Dykes; his daughter-in-law Tara Dykes; and his siblings, Maggie Breedon, Alma Littleton, O. C. Dykes and Nixon Dykes.
He is survived by: his wife Lynette Dykes; his sons, Edward Dykes Jr., Bruce Dykes (Maria) and Lester Dykes; and his grandchildren, Casey Dykes, Lucas Dykes (Alita), Nathan Dykes and Lena Dykes.
