She was predeceased by: her husband Neil Bates; her parents, William "Bill" L. Marshall, Jr. and Virginia Marshall; her grandson Jonathan; her brother William "Billy" L. Marshall; and her grandmother A. E. Thornton, Sr..
She is survived by: her daughters, Malinda Catherine "Cay" Bates Heath (Steve) and Teresa Bates Beverly (David); her brother Albert "Al" Thornton Marshall (Sandy); and her grandchildren, David Heath (Cate), Joseph Heath, Nathaniel Heath (Colleen), Benjamin Heath (Lyssa), Samuel Heath (Jessica), Micah Heath (Emily), Peter Heath (Sarah Joe) and Brian Beverly. She is also survived by great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 2nd 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Dukes-Harley Funeral Home Chapel (3379 Columbia Rd NE, Orangeburg, SC 29118). A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 2nd 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, July 2nd 2025 at the Richland Presbyterian Church Cemetery (631 Fork Church Rd, Gadsden, SC 29052).
