He was predeceased by: his aunt Janette Schiller; his sisters, Kathy Yates and Marilyn Craig; his stepsons, Curtis and Mervyn Simmons (Ann); and his close friend Donald Frost.
He is survived by: his wife Dorothy Griffith; his siblings, Larry Griffith (Diane), Jerri Pittman (David), Suzanne Whethers and Vickie Grantham; his children, Keith Griffith, Elizabeth Burdick (Dave) and Rhonda Mathews (Tony); his grandchildren, Justin Gillis, Jeff Simmons, Lyle Simmons, Sydney Griffith, Saffron Medrano, Starla Colbert, Julie Simmons and Samantha Cribb; his caregivers, Olivia and Jenny; his daughter-in-law Ann Simmons; and his friends, Charlie Sapp and Bonnie. He is also survived by 5 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, October 13th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Pensacola Memorial Gardens (7433 Pine Forest Rd, Pensacola, FL 32526). A funeral service was held on Tuesday, October 13th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
