With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Dorothy Gess Murphy of Pensacola, Florida, born in Saint Albans, New York, who passed away on August 20, 2023 at the age of 96. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, William Gess and Barbara Gess (Girl Scouts); her brother John Gess (Vera); her daughter Mary Katherine Wiener; her husband William F. Murphy Sr.; her daughter Barbara A. Edwards; her grandson Matthew W. Byrd; and her great grandchild Nevaeh Murphy.
She is survived by: her children, William F. Murphy, Jr. (Marla) of Mineral Bluff, GA, Dennis A. Murphy (Claire) of Ledyand, CT, Timothy P. Murphy (Maria) of Bonaire, GA, Micheal J. Murphy (Teresa) of Tallahassee, FL, Patrick J. Murphy (Honor) of Melbourne Beach, FL, Therese M. McGrath (Christopher) of Pensacola, FL and Mary Jane Werner (Frances) of Pensacola, FL. She is also survived by 25 grandchildren from marriage with Bonus grandkids with a total of 28 grandchildren; 35 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
