He was predeceased by : his wife Janelle Helms; his siblings, Bentley Helms, Curtis Helms, Milton Helms, Sr. and Runell Hardage; and his parents, Clifford Helms and Willie Mae Helms.

He is survived by : his daughters, Debbie Wallace (Mark Babbitt), Betty Phetteplace (David Phetteplace) and Sandra Smith (Kevin Smith); his grandsons, David Phetteplace, Joshua Phetteplace and Brian Wallace; and his great grandchildren, Logan Phetteplace, Octavia Phetteplace, David Wallace, Jason Wallace, Adam Wallace and Daniel Wallace.

Visitation was held on Tuesday, May 28th 2024 from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM at the Faith Chapel Funeral Home and Crematory (South) (100 Beverly Pkwy, Pensacola, FL 32505). A funeral service was held on Tuesday, May 28th 2024 at 12:30 PM at the same location.
