She was predeceased by: her adoptive parent Jack-Jack; her son Howard Davis; her sister Inez Ogletree; and her parents, Howard McGehee and Gussie McGehee.
She is survived by: her husband Owen Davis; her children, Alan Davis, Donna Davis and Barbara McGill; her children-in-law, Leon Schwartz, Donnie McGiIll and Shelia Davis; her grandchildren, Devin Davis, April Davis, Kelli Connelly, Christy Briones, Paige Morgan and Tiffany Davis; and her great grandchildren, Cheyenne, Sierra, Zachary, Jay, Juliana, Andrew, Essan, Briley, Gemma, Kasen, Catie and Hannah.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to "The Imagination Library" to further support her love of connecting children and books in communities throughout the nation.
