He was predeceased by: his parents, Ivan Joseph and Mary Kathleen Murphy Sweeney; and his son Stephen Robert Sweeney. He is survived by: his wife Carolyn Sue Pugh Sweeney; his children, Julie Gay Sweeney Cameron (David) and Clayton Thomas Sweeney (Candy); his grandchildren, Clayton Thomas Sweeney II and Melody Kathleen Cameron; his daughter-in-law Susan Barber Sweeney; and his stepchildren, Jason, Jerel Pugh and Kalyn Pugh.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to Pensacola Habitat for Humanity.
