He was predeceased by: his parents, William Henry Russell Sr. and Murriel Haynes Russell; his sisters, Angie Gaver and Nadine Lynn (Bruce); and his grandchildren, Charlie Phoenix Freeman and Cindy Lee Carter.
He is survived by: his wife Coretha Carter Russell; his children, John Russell, Jeff Russell (Jessica), Jerry Russell (Kristie), Douglas Carter (Stacy), Donna Blanton (Gary), Devera Eakins (Herbert) and Darlene Floyd; and his sister Judy McMullen (David). He is also survived by 16 Grandchildren, 15 Great Grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews, as well as many friends and extended family.
