He was predeceased by: his parents, Paul M. Hess and Thelma T. Hess; and his brother PJ Hess. He is survived by: his daughter Karol Chambers (Paul); his grandson Jake; his daughter Kimberly Evans-Dietrich (Al Dietrich); his grandchildren, Charles Evans and Kathryn Evans; his son Keith Hess; his grandchild Kohen Hess; and his siblings, Martha, Diana, Janet, Joe and Leonard.
