He was predeceased by: his parents, Duane Everett and Julia Smeryage (Rupp). He is survived by: his spouse Gale B. Smeryage; his children, Laura Harms (Smeryage), Bevan Harms, Bonnie Smeryage, Colleen Smeryage, Peter and Jenna Smeryage; his siblings, Georgia Pottinger (George) and Steven Smeryage (Kim); and his grandchildren, Hannah Savitt (Harms), Clara Harris (Harms), Mia Harms, Sean Harms, Capri Park, Greta Harms, Samuel Harms, Eliza Harms, John Smeryage, Madeline Smeryage and Norah Savitt.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Duane's honor to Christ Community Church.
