He is survived by: his wife Sherry; and his siblings, Fred Braid, Bonnie Viorin, Carol Foster, Virginia Hanks and Valerie Matulis. He is also survived by his nieces, nephews.
In recognition of his enduring contributions to athletics and philanthropy, he was later inducted into the Hinsdale Central Foundation Hall of Fame in 2005, honoring both his accomplishments on the field and his humanitarian impact off it.
