He was predeceased by: his parents, John Heekin and Aileen Heekin; and his wife Gail Ann. He is survived by: his children, Denise M. Heekin (Richard W. Gagnon), Robert J. Heekin (Cynthia) and Daniel J. Heekin (Trinidad); his grandchildren, Erin M. Markoe (Richard), Robert T. Heekin, Patrick R. Heekin and Brittney J. Companion (Ryan); and his great grandchildren, Emmett Markoe, Robert Companion, Charlotte Companion, Magnolia Companion and Holly Heekin.
