She was predeceased by: her parents, John Thomas and Nora Ray Toney; her former husband Elton Ray Carter of Caney, Oklahoma.; her great grandchild Thomas Wyatt Carter; and her husband William Ernest Cannon.

She is survived by: her sons, Paul Wayne, Philip Ray and Michael Keith (Abigail); her grandchildren, Sam Carter (Kelley) of Chicago, Joe Carter (Lindsey) of Jacksonville, Florida, Jed Carter (Grace) of Yulee, Florida, Michael Paul Carter of Houston, Texas and Melissa Carter of Jacksonville, Florida; and her great grandchildren, Dominic Nunez (Gary McCown) of Jacksonville, Kathryn Carter of Jacksonville and Taytum Carter of Houston. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
