He was predeceased by: his mother Mary Rose Budai; his brother Michael Budai; and his brother-in-law Joseph Schauer. He is survived by: his wife Linda L. Budai; his children, Angela Budai Geiger (Tracy) and Drew Budai (Rob); his siblings, John Budai (Carol) and Veronica Budai Schauer; and his granddaughter Savannah Geiger (Joseph Townsend). He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
