He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Underwood and Annie Darley Clayton; his former wife Jennie Ludwig; his siblings, Robert Doster, Ray Clayton and Mary Frances Cliett; and his pets, Hooch, Joey and Chloe.

He is survived by: his children, Dale (Laura), Bruce (Barbara), Michael, Glynda Kapler (George) and Shelley Clayton (Sharon Barnett); and his brother Marvin. He is also survived by many grandsons, granddaughters, and great grandchildren.
