She was predeceased by: her parents, John Riley McClain and Mary Etta Dowling McClain; her husbands, Havard Howell and Winston Highsmith; and her siblings, Walter McClain, Robert McClain, Roy McClain, Mary Beverly, Margaret McClain and Mattie Randall.
She is survived by: her children, Kathy Regan (Tim), Jeffrey Howell (Tina) and Gregory Howell (Lory); and her siblings, Barbara McClain Teachey and Truman McClain (Donna). She is also survived by 18 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
