He is survived by: his parents, Joe Elder and Marie Elder; his wife Marcia Elder; his sons, Jamison (Amanda) and Brandon (Amber); his grandchildren, Grayson, Jude, Henry, Ezekiel, Mabel and Shiloh; his siblings, Denise Page (Danny), Donna Brannon (Bill), Rhonda (LeGran), Brenda (Boomer) and Donnie (Madalyn); Louise Blanton. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
During the pandemic, he published a weekly article telling the story behind different songs.
