He is survived by: his wife Catherine Jones (Bruning); his children, Dennis Jones, Donivan Jones and Jennifer Bruns (James); and his grandchildren, Amanda Garcia (Victoria), Joshua Jones, Brandy Dobrenen and Donivan Jones, Jr..
In 2002 Richard earned an individual Excellence Award for his work on the PAC-3 missile system and in May of 2007, Richard and his team members received a Meritorious Achievement Award for their contributions to the development and production of the JASSM cruise missile.
