He passed away peacefully with his wife Teresa by his side. Son to Elmer Dickman and Margaret (Ward) Dickman. Jim was the eldest of three siblings, brother Don who preceded in death 2017, (wife Julie) and sister Sue Dickman of Lafayette, IN ; he was deeply loved by his four daughters, Cathy (Hawes) who preceded him in death 1993, Jo Anne (Hawes) Sherry, (husband David Sherry) of Indianapolis IN, Jayme (Dickman) Shipley husband (Jamie Shipley) of Naples, FL and youngest daughter Calera "Cali" Edith Marie Dickman of St. Petersburg, FL; He was loved by many and cherished by his dearest friends, Phil & Liz Slatt, Greg Anastasio, Tom & Norma Heck, Ron & Phyllis Durbin, and Phil Thorton.

Wherever he was living he made a point to know the local firemen and donate meals to them during holidays. Out of respect for his father Elmer a retired fire Chief in Crawfordsville, IN.
