He was predeceased by : his parents, Susan Douberly Witt and Amos William Brown; and his sister Sherry Lanfear. He is survived by : his wife Linda Brown; his children, James R. "Bobo" Brown Jr., Gary Cummings, Daniel Brown, Billy Brown, Nicholas Brown, Kathleen Estell, Susan Brown, Tina Vetter (Drew), Celine Brown (Jeremy Anderson) and Clarissa Hunter (Frank); and his siblings, Steven D. Brown, Keith Brown (Donna), Lynn M. Nettles (Roy), Mary L. Robinson and Cindy Young (Mark). He is also survived by 20 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; along with cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Visitation was held on Wednesday, April 24th 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at 380 N Lowder St, Macclenny, FL 32063. A funeral service was held on Wednesday, April 24th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the same location. A burial was held on Wednesday, April 24th 2024 at the Douglas Cemetery (14567 NW County Rd 239, Lake Butler, FL 32054).
