He was predeceased by: his parents, John Wesly Chapman and Viola "Pee Wee" Jackson; his siblings, Charlie James Sr., Bill Jackson and Rosemary Christine "Sister Poe"; his daughters, Lisa Chapman and Pamela Chapman; and his former wife Annette.
He is survived by: his children, Tammy Chapman, Sherelle (Michael), Lashon, David Chapman Jr., Darrell Chapman (Brandi) and Nick Chapman (Melissa); and his grandchildren, Ty (Shay), Deandre, Shelton, Joseline, Samyah, Yolanda, Jason, Jonathan, Niketa, Nikeria and Michael. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren in total, 11 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 4th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Jones Funeral Home (4005 N Tamiami Trl, Sarasota, FL 34234). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 4th 2025 at 11:30 AM at the Lucille Blake Memorial Chapel at Jones Funeral Home (4005 N Tamiami Trl, Sarasota, FL 34234).
