He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward Olszewski and Helen Becio Olszewski; his son Mathew; and his siblings, Edward and Sarah White (Art).

He is survived by: his wife Donna Busby; his stepchildren, Todd Roberts (Emily), Brooke Moll (Randy) and Edward Kozina (Sarah); his son David Jr. (Cheryl); his sister Laura Eckel (Ed); his grandchildren, Veronica Karcher (William), Charles Moll, Genevieve Moll, Christian Moll, Walker Roberts, Lott Roberts, Lucy Kozina and Edward Kozina III; and his great grandchild Henry Karcher.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to a veterans' organization.
