He was predeceased by: his parents, Madison Hipps and Mildred Hipps; his siblings, Elgin Hipps (Gin), Allene Hipps Grissom (Bill), Herman "Hershey" Hipps (Ada Lee), Melvin Hipps Richard (Katherine), Bob Hipps, John Hipps (Linda) and Frances Hipps Honeycutt (Bill); his parents-in-law, Mildred and Tommy Weaver; and his siblings-in-law, Bill Weaver (Sharon) and Sandra Shirling (Roy).
He is survived by: his wife Melva Weaver Hipps; his children, Julie Shields (John) of Lincoln, NE and Darren Hipps (Jessica) of Troy, AL; his grandchildren, David Shields (Brianna), Rachel Munaires (Marcos), Seth Shields (Carmen), EJ Morgan, Andrew Hipps (Leanne), Alex Hipps (Melody), Elisabeth Bradshaw (Dylan), Eden Renfroe (Nathan) and Lawson Hipps; his brothers, Madison "Pedie" Hipps (Christine) and David Hipps (Kelly); his sisters-in-law, Patsy and Elaine Bennet (Jim); and his friend Caprill Hembree. He is also survived by 11 great grandchildren and numerous nephews, nieces, and countless dear family friends.
