He was predeceased by: his parents, Kermit Hampton and Maxine Hampton (Turner). He is survived by: his friend Kumiko Hampton. He is also survived by cousins, friends and co-workers.
He developed his own method of fast raytracing algorithm (called spatial subdivision method) and made a big contribution to image synthesis technology in CG in 1980's. With his success in the technology, he helped in the development of computer aided design systems for Samsung Electronic in South Korea.
