“Colonel Robert J. Jenkins was commissioned an Infantry Officer (1LT) upon graduation from Officer Candidate School on 3 April 1969. He served a combat tour in Vietnam and was awarded the Purple Heart and Silver Star. He was subsequently commissioned as a US Army Chaplain. As his uniform attests, he was the most decorated Chaplain in the US Army at the time of his retirement. He was a true hero and my friend. I was greatly honored to have served with him.”
