He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Thomas Bennis and Susan Bennis; his siblings, James Bennis (Buddy) and Catherine Meinck (Kitty); his friend Ronald Dickey; his wife Patricia Bennis; and his daughters, Patricia Devine (John), Bernadette Steinmann (Michael), Diane Benner (Gary Autz), Jeanette Seidof (Robert), Rita Keelen (Peter), Veronica Bennis and Eileen Schneider.
A wake will be held on Wednesday, July 9th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Toale Brothers Funeral Home & Crematory - Colonial Chapel (40 N Orange Ave, Sarasota, FL 34236). A funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, July 10th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the St. Thomas More (2506 Gulf Gate Dr, Sarasota, FL 34231). The military honors will be held on Thursday, July 10th 2025 from 12:15 PM to 1:00 PM at the Sarasota National Cemetery (9810 State Rd 72, Sarasota, FL 34241).
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Shriners Hospitals for Children—causes close to Thomas's heart.
