He was predeceased by: his parents, Stella Gates (Donoghue) and Kenneth Gates; his brother Glenn Cyrus Gates; and his son Kenneth Charles Gates. He is survived by: his wife Jean Gates (Rourk); his children, Dewayne Gates, Craig Schneider and Jeneen Hartz (Gates); and his sisters, Colleen Minori (Gates), JoAnn Minori (Gates) and Marian Mentch (Gates). He is also survived by four grandchildren; three great-grandsons.
