He was predeceased by: his parents, Rufus Alvarez and Kathleen Alvarez (Underhill); and his siblings, J. L., James, Mary Lou Dubose, Daniel and Lavon Alvarez.

He is survived by: his siblings, Pat Baldwin (Jerry) of Hampton, FL and Owen Alvarez (Julia) of Starke, FL; his wife Betty; his children, Greg Alvarez (Stephanie), Derek Alvarez (Sherree) and Stefanie (Gordon Smith); and his great grandchildren, Justin Alvarez, Heather Alvarez, Hailey (Chris), Coffey, Hayden Smith, Kylie Orick (Josh), Macy (Lance) and Prouty (Aisling).
