It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Joe C. Lewis Sr. of Summerfield, Florida, born in Oxford, Florida, who passed away on May 6, 2024, at the age of 95, leaving to mourn family and friends. As we bid Joe farewell, let us not mourn the absence of his physical form, but rather celebrate the essence of his spirit that lingers in the spaces between moments. For Joe is not truly gone, but merely transformed, his energy intertwined with the fabric of the universe itself, forever dancing among the stars.

He was predeceased by : his parents, William Lewis and Bessie Lewis; and his daughter Marcella Lewis. He is survived by : his wife Mary Lou Lewis; his children, Payton Lewis (Anna), Joe C. Lewis, Jr. (Jammie), Vicky Mikrut (Mark), Nadine Lewis and Gail Robinson (Kevin); and his brother Frank Lewis. He is also survived by six grandchildren and many great grandchildren.

A funeral service was held on Saturday, May 11th 2024 at 2:00 PM at the Cedar Creek Baptist Church (15455 NE Hwy 314, Silver Springs, FL 34488).

“Joe was so very special! Bill always said when they would go canoe camping, Joe would have a fire going and hot water for tea to start the chilly morning right. He always appreciated the world around him, whether it’s the people he met or a plant or tree. He was a treasure house of stories to make you laugh or think awhile. It has been a blessing just knowing Joe!”
