She was predeceased by: her mother Dr. Cynthia Cross Leitner; her grandparents, Julia Leitner, G. P. Leitner, Dr. Roland Cross and Helen Cross; her aunt Helen Leitner-Ingrao; her grandmother Elizabeth Loraine Porter Hines; and her close friend Dallas Leitner.
She is survived by: her father Philip Marshall Leitner; her husband Brendon Schmitt; her sister Kelly Marie Leitner; her goddaughter Everlee Chase Glass; and her godparents, Bob and Gale Hockman.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Carrie's name to the Leon County Humane Society, an organization that that loves animals almost as much as Carrie did.
