She was predeceased by: her grandchildren, Edward Fitzgerald Ealey (Little Ned) and Markeal Devonte Dickey. She is survived by: her daughter Jessie Simmons Alexander (Shella); her grandchildren, Jarrett Alexander, Carlin Hester, Cheryl Hester, Roosevelt "Trey" Ealey, Melesa Dickey Witherspoon (Thomas) and Cherrese Hester; and her siblings, Betty Roberts, Earline Williams, Rubell Beard (David), Jessie Alexander (Shella), Janie Glenn, Joseph McCoy and Reverend Oliver Simmons (Frances). She is also survived by six great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to New Mt. Zion AME Church or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
