He was predeceased by: his parents, John Schardine and Marian Cunningham; and his brother Dave Schardine. He is survived by: his wife Carol Schardine; his son John Schardine (Elizabeth); his stepdaughters, Konda Pollard (Mike) and Gretchen Carpenter (Mike); his grandchildren, Dareian, Blair Schardine, Lauren Wooster (Grant), Tegan, Tatum Abbey, Karly Pollard, Anna and Allen Carpenter; his brother Dan Schardine; his sister-in-law Rita Schardine; and his stepsister Sylvia Negri.
