With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Melissa Ann Hargett in Tallahassee, Florida, born in Monroe, North Carolina, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on January 21, 2025 at the age of 56. Though her name may fade from the lips of time, the imprint Melissa Ann leaves upon the hearts of her loved ones remains eternally vivid — a testament to the depth of her spirit and the richness of her legacy.
She is survived by: her wife Laurel Barineau Hargett; her parents, Gracie Hargett and Nathan Hargett Sr. (Doris Hargett); her brother Nathan Hargett Jr. (Wendi Hargett); her aunts, Brenda Simpson, Susie Johnson and Deborah Splawn; her parents-in-law, Mary and Ivan Barineau; and her friends, Lisa Oakley and Suzette Ghent. She is also survived by cats and dogs.
