He is survived by: his wife Angela Dee Poppell (Walker); his children, Hayley Suzanne Mahaffey (James Joseph-JJ) of Crawfordville, Lauralyn Elizabeth Hudgins (David) of Tallahassee, Phillip Wiley Poppell of Tallahassee and Rhett Brinton Poppell (Emily) of Canton; his grandchildren, Lawson James Mahaffey, Baye Ashlyn Mahaffey, Brevyn Kate Mahaffey, Locklyn Iris Hudgins, Ashtyn Annette Hudgins and Julian Chase Poppell; and his brothers, Dr. Sam (Noreen Poppell), Andy (Kendra Poppell) and Skip (Beth Poppell). He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
