He was predeceased by: his parents, Patrick J. Gear and Martha A. Gear (O'Dwyer); his spouse Jean Gear (Woods); and his siblings, Marie Woodlock (Gear), Eleanor Feltenberger (Gear), Virginia Barbour (Gear), Jerome Gear, Patrick Gear, William Gear and Michael Gear.
He is survived by: his children, Patricia Ameen (Michael), Ronald Gear, Jr. (Kathy), Colleen Durfee (Gear) and Susan Shackelton (Gear); and his grandchildren, Carrie, Jennifer, Kaitlyn, Justin, Lyndsey, Matthew, Christine, Patrick, Amanda and Billy. He is also survived by fourteen great grandchildren and two great, great grandchildren.
