It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Sylvester Paul Shields Sr. of Tallahassee, Florida, who passed away on December 17, 2023, at the age of 87, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his children, Cynthia Sue Shields and Jeffrey Dale Shields; his grandson Ian Scott Shields; and his brothers, Thomas Settler Shields, Roy Richard Shields and Joseph Lee Shields.

He is survived by: his wife Jean Shields of Tallahassee; his sons, Paul Shields (Terri) of Tallahassee and Kevin Shields of Tallahassee; his grandchildren, Jeffey Shields (Cari) of Nashville, Candice Shields of Orlando, Clint Shields (Diane) of Climax, Wendy Rose Shields of Crawfordville and Jessica Shields of Kenosha, Wisconsin; and his brothers, Estral "Bill" Shields of Tallahassee, Rev. Charles Jefferson Shields (Linda) of Ashland and Don Develard Shields of Tallahassee, Florida.. He is also survived by nine great-grandchildren.
