He is survived by: his close friend Mamie Douglas "Cookie"; his children, Marilyn, Sonya (James), Janice, Sylvester Jr., Clarence, Troy and Vernon Hooks; and his siblings, Arthur Hooks (Doris), Elmina Hooks-Henderson, Rosette Hooks-Nealy, Bennie Mae Hooks-Moultry (Tony), Dorothy Hooks-Wilson and Clara Hooks-Hughs. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
