He was predeceased by: his parents, Lula Mae Yawn Thomas and Virgil Lee Thomas, Sr.; his brothers, Virgil Lee Thomas, Jr., James E. Thomas, Robert E. Thomas, Harry L. Thomas and Walter Earl Thomas; and his wife Edeltraud Thomas.
He is survived by: his children, David Thomas and Linda Darwish; and his grandchild Thomas Darwish.
Edeltraud's unfailing support and understanding helped to make possible his lasting contribution to the nation until he retired from the United States Air Force.
