She was predeceased by: her husband Oscar Johnson; her brothers, Peter, Lauchland (Samuel) and Carrol; and her parents, Joseph T. Simmons and Gladys M. Kirwan Simmons.
She is survived by: her children, Gizelle Crumpler and Pierre Crumpler; her grandchildren, Pierre and Tanesha Sanae; her adoptive daughters, Tinisha "Niecy" Bryant and Jacqueline Penninton; her close friends, Summer Thornill, Olga Mitchell, Addie, Alford Hunte, Patricia London, James Roschevitz, Chasidy and Denise; her grandsons, Ali Bryant and Addison Gregory; and her brother Roland Simmons.
