He was predeceased by: his parents, Dewell Rushing Sr. and Jane P. Rushing. He is survived by: his siblings, Donna Rushing, Dewell Rushing Jr. (Linda) and Marsha Fielland (Ted); his siblings' children, Terrell (Haley), Elias (Cyndi), Marcus Fielland (Jennifer) and Landee Fielland; and his pet Heddy Betty.
