He is survived by: his wife Verdell Rodgers; his sisters, Mae Lucy and Mary Frances; his children, Rita Jean, Debra, Tonya, Angie, Deedra, Michael and Ernest, Jr.; his sister Alma Smith; and his friends, Rudolph, James and Chester. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren; numerous great and great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousin.
