He was loved and cherished by many people including: his father John Michael Karaphillis; his son Nick; his grandsons, Nicholas and Michael Constantine Karaphillis; his wife Norma Nicolaides of Miami; his children, Mary Frances Gillespie (Michael) and John Karaphillis (Cindy); his grandchildren, Rhett Cowart, Michael John Karaphillis and Alexandra Jones; and his great grandchildren, Nicholas Pappas, Brooke Karaphiilis, Jude Jones and Anna Karaphillis.
