He was predeceased by: his parents, Cornelius "C. O." Omar and Gladys Marie Thomas (May); and his brother Stephen Charles Thomas. He is survived by: his wife Kathryn Thomas of Maysville, KY; his daughters, Tracy Hackler (Randy) of Madison, AL, Amanda Yates (Steven) of North Port, FL, Sterling Payne (Michael) of Saint Simons Island, GA and Erin Thomas of Ocala, FL; his grandchildren, Seth Hackler (Brittany), Adam Hackler (Melissa), Jherika Crooks (Torrance), Lauren Hensley, Chance Hensley, Logan Yates, Zevin Evans and Dublin Evans; and his great grandchildren, Shaylynn, Kaylee, MaKenna, Jordan, Isley and Atre'us.
Perhaps his greatest contribution to the community was co-founding The Ohio Tobacco Festival, which started in 1982.
