He was predeceased by: his parents, Leon Owens and Francis Owens; his brother Greg Owens; and his nephew Jeremy Owens. He is survived by: his wife Laurie Owens; his children, John Owens (Brianna), Cody Humphries and Nichole Kennedy (Leon); his grandsons, Tanner Kennedy, Gavin Owens and Bronson Owens; his siblings, Mary Steverson, Vera Kirkland (Terry) and David Owens (Peggy); his in-laws, Cheryl McCormack (Bruce), Donna Humphries and Tray Whitman; and his nieces and nephews, Mike, Leslie, Kelly, Shannon, Ryan O., Cody S., Ryan K, Tyler and Will. He is also survived by many great nieces and nephews as well as many friends.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the City of Vernon Recreation Fund, Gary was a big supporter of Vernon youth programs.
