He was predeceased by: his parents, Malcolm MacTaggart and Dorothy MacTaggart; and his brothers, Sandy and Don. He is survived by: his wife Robin; his children, Susan (Ted), Ted Saraceno, Ian (Chrissy), Chrissy MacTaggart and Cameron MacTaggart; his grandchildren, Alie, Krissy, Kurt, Emma (Eric), Kelli (Jackson), Annabelle, Hannah and Molly; and his sister Nancy Baker of Australia.
His contributions to the protection of global intellectual property were recognized by the King of Belgium, who named him an Officer of the Crown with the formal approval of the Queen of England.
