He was predeceased by: his parents, Dan Carpenter and Jennie Carpenter; and his wife Joanne Moore Carpenter. He is survived by: his daughter Denise Goble; his son-in-law Tim; and his sisters, Libby Diggs of Wadesboro and Mavis Freeman (Barney) of Morganton.
