He was predeceased by : his son Paul Furmato; his granddaughter Margaret DeBendictis Gilbert; his parents, Rose Furmato and James Furmato; his parents-in-law, Theresa and Joseph Vicari; and his brothers, Matthew and Anthony Furmato.

He is survived by : his wife Margaret "Peggy" Vicari Furmato; his children, Joseph Furmato Jr. (Mary), Carol DeBendictis (Andrew), Jill Keough (James) and Mark Furmato (Judit); his grandchildren, Joseph III (Erica), Christopher, Caroline (Gabriela), Jillian, Andrew, Paul Jr., Stephanie (Mathew), Theresa, Erica, Alec (Gabriel) and Nicholas; his great grandchildren, Natalie, Joseph IV, Aiden, Luiza, Raul, James and Eric; his siblings, Peter Furmato (Brenda) and Anne Jakubowski (Ronnie); his siblings-in-law, Lucy Furmato and James Vicari (Georgianna); his niece Georgianna; and his nephews, Joe and Nick Minervini. He is also survived by his family, spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

A funeral Mass was held on Tuesday, April 16th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the Church of St. Martha (3800 Herbertsville Rd, Point Pleasant, NJ 08742).
