He is survived by: his wife Janet; his daughter Lily Peck (Michael); his cousin Peggy Hacker (Ralph); his sister-in-law Valerie Piland (Bud); his niece Julie Dunn (Dwayne); his nephew David Piland (Egle); his great-nieces and great-nephews, Mia, Uma, Isla and Tessa; his niece Rebekah; his nephew Nathan; his sister-in-law Sally Russell (Nate); his cousins, Geoffrey, Rosalind, David, Linda, Harvey, Janice, Brian, Jean, Leslie, Derek, Joy, Neville, Myrtle, John, Edwin, Elizabeth, Ruth, Evelyn, Randy, Andrea and Bob; Jeff (Beth), Ryan, Jessica and Kevin (Jennifer).
During COVID, he started hobbies of rebuilding model trains and Dinky toys.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations in Rick's memory be made to Trinity Episcopal Church of Vero Beach, FL, Calvary Episcopal Church of Stonington, CT, or the Connecticut Humane Society.
